  • Description: Towards the end of the German occupation during World War II, 40 men are executed in a village in Crete as punishment for the death of two German officers. Maria, who is in charge of bringing up her little brother, must make it on her own, since her fiancé has to leave the village to finish his medical studies. Some time later, Maria is wrongly accused of murder and stands trial in the city where her loved one is now a doctor. Despite being with another woman, he helps Maria prove her innocence.
